What is Instant Oat Flour?

Instant Oat Flour by FoodSeries is a food preparation based on common oat (Avena sativa L.). Sweeteners are only present in the flavoured versions.

Oats are one of the most widely consumed cereals in the world. In this preparation, instead of using the whole grain, it has been subjected to a process of grinding and microfiltration to obtain a fine flour that is very easy to consume and use in our recipes.

This product is suitable for vegan diets and 100% GMO-free.

Why take Oat Flour?

Oats are a must-have ingredient in shakes, breakfasts and other meals included in the diet of athletes as they are an excellent supply of complex carbohydrates.

Carbohydrates contribute to the recovery of normal muscle function (contraction) after physical exercise of high intensity and/or long duration leading to muscle fatigue and depletion of glycogen stores in skeletal muscle.1

Precooked - What does this mean?

Before the oat flakes are milled into flour, they are cooked in steam and water systems. This allows the native starch structure to be denatured so that when it is cooled and ground. The end result of oat flour is much better than the raw versions, as its digestibility is far superior, and it is absorbed efficiently.

How to take Oat Flour?

1.- Adjust the amount

We adjust the amount of product according to our weight, physical condition and goals. Generally, it ranges from 50-100g, which is equivalent to 1 or 2 scoops.

2.- Choose your drink

You can use water, milk, juice or any other drink of your choice.

3.- Mix well

Use an HSN Shaker to make this step easier. It includes a anti-lump grid for perfect mixing in just a few seconds.

When to take Instant Oat Flour?

Given its properties, oat flour can be taken at any time of the day. However, the best times of the day are:

Breakfast

It is an ideal ingredient to have at breakfast, as part of a complete and balanced meal:

  • If you are looking for something quick: mix 1 scoop of Oat Flour and 1 scoop of Whey Protein Concentrate.
  • If we prefer, we have the option of cooking a pancake with Oat Flour and Egg Whites.

Afternoon snack

A delicious recipe is to combine Oat Flour with Whipped Cottage Cheese or Greek Yoghurt.

After Physical Exercise

For athletes, it is a very good choice as a post-exercise meal after exercise that is expected to be very strenuous or long-lasting.

A good recommendation would be to take Oat Flour with the drink of our preference, and add a tablespoon of Peanut Butter.

Before going to sleep

The last meal, if we are still hungry or 2-3 hours after dinner or if we are looking for an extra caloric intake, we can mix the Oat Flour with Micellar Casein.

How to Prepare Oat Pancakes and Egg Whites?

To make our delicious pancakes, all we need is simply:

  • Instant Oat Flour in the flavour of your choice, or even neutral, and if you want to sweeten it, add a little Sucralose.
  • Eggs and/or with Egg whites.

Elaboration Process

Place the ingredients in a bowl and, with the help of a blender, mix everything together until the dough is homogeneous. Now it is time to cook. We recommend using a non-stick frying pan, a little olive oil, and once hot, add the mixture. Depending on the size and number of pancakes, we vary the amount we add. This will also change the thickness of each pancake. The average cooking time for each side of the pancake is usually around one minute.

When we see that they reach a 'golden' colour, it means that they are ready.

Form of Use

The main reason is with regard to the way it is taken.

As the flakes have to be kept whole, they need to be prepared before eating, e.g. by maceration. However, oat flour can be mixed with water, milk or juice without further complication.

Speed

Oat Flour, on the other hand, is much more practical and quicker. It can be used to prepare any recipe, or to use it in a smoothie, thus avoiding lumps or poor mixing.

Using Oat Flour has almost the same dilution as the protein powder.
