As you can see, the number of processes involved in the other brands is much higher than in HSN, but is this better? Not at all! It’s worse!

All supplementation companies start with the purchase of a raw material; let’s think about it: HSN manufactures and sells food supplements, but we do not have our own dairy farms where we milk cows. Nobody does that.

There are companies known to be specialists in this, such as Fonterra or Arla, with whom we work on our products.

These companies have cattle from which they milk for dairy preparations, including protein powder, which we buy in large volumes and sell to you in convenient formats as we buy it (RawSeries), or enhanced with our own flavours.

This is because just as a supplement company usually does not have cattle available to provide the milk from which to make protein, many supplement companies do not manufacture their supplements, but order them from factories that know how to do it. They simply order what they want, and put their label on it to sell it under their name.

At HSN we manufacture our own products. Our factory “HSN LABS”, founded in 2016, has been certified by entities of the highest international rigour as a reference for its good practices and controlled quality procedures.

The product manufactured by other companies travels to their warehouses (theirs, or ceded, just as we talked about with the factory, it can be a service that they contract).

From its warehouses it is distributed, through an intermediary who is a distributor and is in charge of the task of sending the products to the physical shops where it is sold, until the consumer buys it.

So, what does all this mean?

All this means that all the services that are contracted or ceded have to live off something, so they charge money… The factory charges, the warehouses where the products are stored charge, the distributor and the physical shop charge, and then the brand needs a profit, of course… All this has a direct impact on the final price (RRP) of the product that you as a consumer buy.

At HSN we buy the raw materials, and with our own costs for employees, facilities, services such as water, electricity, etc., we manufacture, store and distribute our own manufactured products directly.

There is no external factory that charges for the manufacture of our products, nor a warehouse that charges us for storage, nor a distributor, nor a physical shop that needs a margin, we are the only company in the whole chain (apart from the company that sells us the raw material to manufacture the product), that charges for the sale of the product.

This results in a lower final price for the customer.

HSN was founded in 2007 as a shop selling food supplements manufactured by other companies, distributing international reference brands such as Optimum Nutrition, MuscleTech, Bolero, etc. We are the only official distributor in Spain of some brands such as Now Foods.

With the success of our e-commerce, in 2012 we started our adventure to develop our own brand “HSN”. Divided into different lines depending on the objective that our customers were pursuing with the use of the products.

SportSeries, EssentialSeries and RawSeries were born in 2012; Vitaminalia in 2013, FoodSeries in 2015, BioSeries in 2017 and KetoSeries in 2020. Recently, in 2022, we launched our FlavourSeries.

Another point to highlight is that our investment in advertising is much more moderate than that of our competitors, why?

At HSN we have detected a system used by the supplement industry that we do not like at all, and that is that many companies fill their packaging with seals, but not raw material seals, even capsule seals, or sweetener seals, which have no significance for the final result of the product, just to give a more “premium” appearance to their supplements, and make them more expensive, making them look like better products.
