What is Fitness?
In the last few years, or even decades, there has been a growing interest in activities that have a common purpose: “staying fit”.
Aerobics, jogging, or bodybuilding were the first ones to encourage healthy habits and staying fit.
This could be the broadest definition of “Fitness”, in which the main purpose would be to achieve no other thing than wellness.
However, Fitness can go beyond a mere physical activity and become a lifestyle
Fitness Lifestyle
In this situation, the individual is responsible for determining his or her level of compromise, which involves another relevant aspect: the attitude.
The attitude is so much more than simply doing physical exercise consistently. The attitude involves several components and there are many ways of measuring it.
You have to take care of your diet, show interest in the most relevant news about training, or add supplements to your diet that will strengthen your body while preventing any nutritional deficiency.
These are all factors that show the individual’s level of compromise with sport as a way to follow a healthy lifestyle.
When we talk about fitness, we must mention the wellness, which is a state that involves a positive health that is reflected on the quality of life and a feeling of wellbeing.
Fitness to Stay Healthy
Preventing is ultimately better than the cure. So, why is it that not everyone lives according to this concept?
Practising Fitness means being healthy. Doing sports and following healthy habits counters the onset of certain pathologies or diseases.
However, even those who are fit can have a bad health due to factors that go beyond our control such as hereditary conditions, or bacterial/viral infections.
The inactivity is a risk factor for several diseases like coronary disease, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, hypertension and hypercholesterolemia.
These are just a few examples that confirm that doing exercise regularly or following a Fitness lifestyle is an important factor for the prevention of diseases which are often associated with death in developed countries.
Fitness Today
Thanks to the fact that we live in the era of information, there are new modalities associated with sports.
They all want to encourage taking care of ourselves through activities that are compatible with the standard working hours of any citizen while allowing us to achieve our desired physical shape.
Some examples are: indoor cycling, zumba, suspension training, functional training, kettlebell training, hiit, yoga, pilates, stretching, core training, boot camp…
Those who practice said activities will undergo a psychological process that will change their attitude towards physical training as well as their physical aptitude.
At the same time, our motivation increases as we witness the positive changes that happen both mentally and physically.
