What is Maltodextrin?

Properties of Maltodextrin
Maltodextrin is digested quickly because it is made up of a small fraction of the original starch molecule, which improves the digestion.
It is not too simple to be a sugar, which means that its sugar content is moderate (<7%). However, it has the ability to release nutrients faster than glucose itself, since its glycemic index is higher (Sands et al., 2009).
Maltodextrin is a complex carbohydrate with properties that are similar to simple carbohydrates.
