The active complex of Milk Thistle is a lipophilic extract from the plant’s seeds and is made up of three flavonolignan isomers (silibinin, silidianin, and silicristin) collectively known as silymarin.
Silibinin is the component with the highest activity level and makes up 50% to 70% of silymarin. Silymarin is found throughout the plant but is concentrated in the fruit and seeds.
