Did you know that many of the cocoa creams on the market, both fit and standard, contain palm oil in their composition?
Palm oil is a widely used source of fats in the food industry because of its low production cost and lack of flavour.
However, the European Commission is taking action to reduce the use of vegetable shortenings due to the high content of trans-fatty acids they contain, which pose a potential risk to human health (Jarvis et al., 2018).
Not to mention that palm cultivation and harvesting is one of the main causes of deforestation and damage to natural biodiversity in poor regions of South Asia and Indonesia, according to data from the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF, n.d.).
HSN is not in favour of the use of palm oil for the reasons stated above.
Our cocoa and hazelnut creams, both nutchoco and nutchoco DUO, are palm oil free.
Enjoy a more sustainable and nutritionally preferable option.
