Lactobacillus helveticus is a lactic acid bacteria found in all high-quality probiotics.
Lactic acid bacteria live inside the intestinal flora and help keep your gut healthy. Plus, lactobacillus helveticus protects the gut from highly dangerous pathogens (B. ECEH) and prevents infections caused by candida, vaginal fungi, and cystitis.
As if that wasn’t enough, it also ensures greater bone density. So, when you buy probiotics, make sure they include lactobacillus helveticus.

Lactobacillus helveticus, the lactic acid bacteria that has it all
To start, talking about it as one of the beneficial bacteria in the gut, also called lactobacteria.
Together with bifidobacteria, lactobacilli and their health benefits are grabbing science’s attention.
Until now, helveticus had received very little research focus.

Lactobacillus helveticus probiotic: high quality that protects against many diseases
Probiotics are preparations made up of a mix of different microorganisms.
A healthy gut flora is key for overall health. It keeps the digestive system in shape and helps get rid of bloating.
A healthy gut flora is so important that almost no disease symptom exists without some connection to gut flora function.
Almost all diseases originate from or come with a disruption of gut flora. Even chronic overweight is linked to a specific gut flora disorder.
This shouldn’t surprise us. Healthy gut flora is the basic requirement for a strong immune system. So, it not only provides resistance against all kinds of diseases, but also contributes to physical and mental health.
Many health problems are related to altered gut flora.
Healthy gut flora protects against health issues and speeds up recovery when you’re sick.
There are tons of probiotic supplements on the market promising a healthy gut flora.

Probiotics with Lactobacillus reuteri: to keep gums healthy and reduce dental plaque
Lactobacillus reuteri is a lactic acid bacteria with exceptional properties, especially for improving oral health.
It’s been shown to relieve gum inflammation and reduce dental plaque. This lowers the risk of cavities.
In babies, lactobacillus reuteri reduces allergy risk. It also supports healthy development of the digestive and immune systems.
Plus, it reduces the risk of colic and diarrhea in babies, helping make these less painful and shorter.
Lactobacillus helveticus has a completely different activity spectrum but complements reuteri perfectly.
Lactobacillus helveticus benefits
Strengthens bones
While lactobacillus reuteri benefits oral health, lactobacillus helveticus supports bone health.
In fact, together with the bone-protective mineral, it increases bone density and bone metabolism.

Study:
In 2014, a study compiling research from several universities reached these conclusions:
- It increases the solubility and bioavailability of essential minerals for bones (calcium, magnesium, boron, etc.).
- It improves production of phytase enzymes. Phytases inhibit the mineral-binding effect of phytic acid. Phytic acid is a plant substance found in cereals, legumes, and nuts, and it can bind minerals in the gut, preventing their absorption into the bloodstream. The less active phytic acid is, the more minerals bones can absorb, and lactobacillus helveticus helps bones absorb more minerals.
- It reduces inflammatory processes in the gut. So far, the less inflammation in the gut, the higher the bone density.
- It stimulates formation and activity of osteoblasts. Osteoblasts are cells that build bone, unlike osteoclasts that break it down. In menopausal women, the balance between osteoblasts and osteoclasts breaks down, with bone-degrading cells dominating, increasing osteoporosis risk. Lactobacillus helveticus helps restore this balance and boosts osteoblasts’ power.
Helps detox the body
Lactobacillus helveticus helps the body have better bioavailability of calcium and other minerals needed for bones. Generally, this probiotic increases the body’s ability to absorb and get more nutrients and vital substances needed by the body.
Thanks to allergen and toxin removal by lactobacillus helveticus, problems with pathogenic elements also decrease.

Protects against dangerous infections
Lactobacillus helveticus prevents infections in the gastrointestinal area.
It also stops urinary tract or vaginal infection bacteria from causing infections elsewhere in the body.
Lactobacillus helveticus and candida
Besides preventing allergens, toxins, and bacteria, lactobacillus helveticus also stops fungi like candida from overgrowing.
At the same time, inflammatory processes often accompanying fungal infections drop drastically. Lactobacillus helveticus reduces activity of several inflammatory mediators in the vaginal mucous membrane (myeloperoxidase, inflammatory cytokines and enzymes, NF-kB).

So, a probiotic with lactobacillus helveticus is ideal to prevent candida infections or treat vaginal or intestinal fungal infections, and it’s also a great help in a intestinal cleansing program.
The anti-inflammatory effects of lactobacillus helveticus not only improve bone strength and health and prevent fungi and bacteria but also help lower the risk of most chronic diseases.
Prevents chronic diseases
All chronic diseases are linked to initially imperceptible inflammatory processes that, depending on personal situation, diet, and genetics, lead to one or another chronic disease.
According to a 2013 study, lactobacillus helveticus inhibits inflammatory processes by reducing activity of a specific substance (NF-κB). These are involved in all kinds of inflammation and keep it going.
It slows NF-κB activity, reducing inflammation and lowering the risk of developing chronic disease.
This is because it improves the state of the intestinal mucosa, which is responsible for many ailments and autoimmune diseases.
In 2007, several Argentine researchers published these findings in BMC Immunology:

Helps you sleep better
Lactobacillus helveticus promotes sleep. Sleep is necessary for healing chronic or acute diseases.
A 2006 Japanese study showed that older adults (aged 60 to 81) who took a probiotic preparation with lactobacillus helveticus for three weeks slept much better and woke up less often than before.
Reduces blood pressure
Another Japanese study showed it lowers blood pressure. This is an extra benefit for many people.
This means it lowered diastolic pressure by an average of 5 mmHg. In people with normal but slightly elevated blood pressure, systolic pressure dropped by 3.2 mmHg.

In people with high but abnormal blood pressure, exposure to lactobacillus helveticus lowered blood pressure by 11.2 mmHg (systolic) and 6.5 mmHg (diastolic).
No side effects were detected in any case.
In conclusion, the blood pressure-lowering effect also influences the relaxing and anxiolytic properties of lactobacillus helveticus described below.
Helps relax the mind
The influence of gut flora on mood has long been known. Often, people start feeling anxious or depression when they have gastrointestinal problems.
Sometimes, even after gastrointestinal issues disappear, some people feel sadness, melancholy, or even panic attacks.
Studies from 2013 found that diet influences anxiety or stress levels. This influence can be reduced by taking lactobacillus helveticus.
However, the healthier a person is, the less need they have to take probiotics and the lower their risk of chronic inflammatory processes.
In short, we recommend switching to a healthy diet combined with a high-quality probiotic that contains lactobacillus helveticus.
