What is Lutein + Zeaxanthin 20mg/1mg?
Lutein + Zeaxanthin 20mg/1mg by EssentialSeries is a food supplement in vegetable capsules made from Tagetes erecta flower extract with a high content of xanthophylls such as Lutein and Zeaxanthin.
Lutein is a xanthophyll and one of more than 600 known carotenoids occurring in nature. Lutein is synthesised only by plants, and like other xanthophylls is found in relatively large amounts in green leafy vegetables (DrugBank, n.d.).
Our Lutein + Zeaxanthin is made from an herbal extract and its capsules are manufactured using a non-animal cellulose derivative, which means that the capsules have a high content of Lutein + Zeaxanthin:
This product is 100% suitable for use by vegetarians and vegans.

Why buy Lutein + Zeaxanthin in HSN?
Natural vegetable origin
Lutein is a carotenoid that is naturally present predominantly in green leafy vegetables such as kale and spinach, so obtaining it from herbal extracts is possible.
However, many companies resort to chemically synthesised sources in order to reduce production costs.
Not in HSN!
We have used the flower petals of the Tagete plant, one of nature's most important sources of lutein. For this purpose:
We have used a 25:1 of Tagetes erecta extract.
With a standardised content of active ingredients:
- 10% Lutein.
- 0.5% Zeaxanthin.
This ensures a concentrated extract in small capsules.
Vegan
As Lutein + Zeaxanthin is obtained from an herbal extract, the raw product is vegan.
Many food supplement companies market products in capsules which, although the raw material may be suitable for vegetarians and vegans, the product is rendered unsuitable by the use of gelatine as a coating agent for the capsules.
At HSN we want all our products to be suitable for vegan diets and therefore we use a vegetable glazing agent:
This makes Lutein + Zeaxanthin 20mg/1mg a food supplement completely suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
Which products combine with?
It goes great with other products containing carotenoids such as:
