Glucomannan powder properties
Konjac glucomannan (Amorphophallus konjac)
- Glucomannan contributes to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels.1
- Glucomannan in the context of an energy-restricted diet contributes to weight loss.2
Why use Glucomannan powder?
Glucomannan is a soluble fibre, a polysaccharide with a particular chemical structure that is very rare in the Western diet and with the extraordinary ability to attract water.
Glucomannan as a source of fibre
There are many sources of fibre, but it is usually recommended to increase fibre intake through the inclusion of wheat bran, which is the general wild card.
However, glucomannan has technological properties, thanks to its chemical structure and fibre content:
- Molecular weight: Glucomannan has a molecular mass of 200-2000 kilodaltons depending on its degree of polymerisation.
- Viscosity: Glucomannan, when hydrated in the stomach, forms a gelatinous mass.

95% Glucomannan
A. konjac bulb extract has varying amounts of glucomannan depending on growing conditions, processing and other factors.
In our product we have standardised its glucomannan content to 95%, a practice that is not very widespread in the food supplement market, but extremely useful as it ensures a standard concentration of the main chemical constituent of general interest in Konjac.
If the concentrations of Glucomannan in Konjac are not known, it is not possible to establish a relationship with its effects by not determining the quantities to be used.
How does Glucomannan taste?
Glucomannan has a neutral taste.
