What is L-leucine?
L-leucine by HSNraw is a product that has been exclusively made from the most bioavailable form of leucine (Morozov, 1979). It has been obtained from plant sources, without aggressive treatments that could compromise the quality of the raw ingredient.

L-leucine is an amino acid, that is, one of the units that make up proteins. It belongs to the branched chain amino acids (BCAA's) and the essential amino acids (EAA's).
The latest studies show that it is the main amino acid in charge of signalling the translocation and transcription of the protein complex that conditions the protein synthesis. Therefore, it helps us gain muscle mass (Dodd and Tee, 2012).
Why take L-leucine?
L-leucine is possibly the most important amino acid from all the ones that make up a high quality protein. Moreover, it is an essential element, which means that we have to obtain it from the diet, otherwise our body will not be able to synthesize as much as we need, resulting in a malnourishment (Gil, 2010).
Crucial amino acid for muscle anabolism
L-leucine has been described as “a crucial amino acid for muscle anabolism”, this is due to the fact that the muscle cells have a protein complex known as mTORC1, whose activation triggers a series of reactions that lead to an increase of muscle protein synthesis, which helps us gain and preserve our muscle mass (Yoon, 2017).
This amino acid plays an important role in the signalling and activation of the mTORC1 pathway through a series of highly complex molecular mechanisms (Wolfson et al., 2016).
“Beyond working as a mere substrate, leucine has proven in many studies that it is the amino acid that “turns on” the muscle protein synthesis” (Philips, 2016).
This theory is called “leucine threshold” and it assesses the utility of a protein when it comes to performing processes that result in muscle mass gains. This will depend on the amount of leucine that reaches that blood and how quickly it is, since the body needs a minimum amount to start off all the processes.
Without leucine, even if we had the rest of amino acids available, the muscle anabolism processes would never take place.

L-leucine has become an indispensable amino acid for the protein synthesis which results in muscle mass gains. The time it takes to reach the blood is also a big determinant.

How to take L-LEUCINE POWDER 150g:Mix 1 scoop (5g) with water, juice or your favourite pre-workout drink, twice a day. On training days, take 1 serving before training and 1 right after for better results.
