What is Lecithin Granules?
Lecithin granules by HSNfoods is a product that has been exclusively made from soy lecithin granules. A great product that you can use in all your healthy recipes to make them unique.
Unlike most similar products in the market, our soy lecithin does not come from transgenic soy beans. Our product is 100% free from genetically modified organisms.
Why use Soy Granules?
Soy is a leguminous plant that is commonly used in Asian gastronomy due to its delicious natural flavor as well as its nutritional properties.
Lecithin is extracted from the matrix of soy beans and it is a great source of nutrients, together with its dietary properties, it is a product that can be used to make interesting combinations that will enrich your meals.
What are the properties of soy lecithin?
Soy lecithin is naturally made up of many lipids, including glycolipids and neutral lipids, but around an 82% of its content is mainly phospholipids:
Erdahl et al. (1973)
That is the reason why the fat content from the product is so high. However, that does not mean it is bad!
Nutritional properties of soy lecithin
Phospholipids are lipid structures that are mostly made up of polyunsaturated fatty acids, mainly linoleic acid, which has proven several times that it can hep us lower the cholesterol levels, supporting our cardiovascular health:
Soy lecithin is a product that helps to regulate the blood cholesterol levels thanks to its linoleic acid content.
Apart from this, the most common phospholipid from soy lecithin is phosphatidylcholine, so that we will be able to benefit from the effects of choline.
Actually, choline is an essential nutrient that we have to obtain from the food we eat on a daily basis. Our body needs it to be healthy but it is not capable of synthesizing it.
A choline deficiency has been related to metabolic alterations and changes in the neurological functioning. Moreover, taking choline can help us improve the health of our liver.
Culinary uses of lecithin granules
Soy lecithin is unique due to its nutritional properties. In fact, it is an ingredient that should not be missing from your kitchen!
Did you know that…
soy lecithin has been used for centuries as an emulsifier and it is a authorized additive to make food products all over the world?
An emulsifier is a substance that makes it easier to obtain a homogeneous blend whenever we are using two ingredients that are difficult to combine.
Soy lecithin is the secret of the creamiest mayonnaise!
In addition, it is also quite common to find it in whey protein in order to improve its solubility. Low-fat protein isolate needs a humectant that will improve its solubility in water... Do you know what is the best one? Of course, it is lecithin!
It is ideal if you are going to cook a recipe with whey protein from the HSNraw range of products. In the end, your recipe will be creamier, more consistent and with an incredible texture.
Apart from all these properties, this product is a excellent partial substitute for egg and oils in confectionery.
Thanks to its structure, masses will easily ferment, lecithin itself protects the yeast and increases the volume of the mixtures. Moreover, the ingredients will blend more easily and the solution will be homogeneous.
Are you going to cook a recipe with cocoa? Even if it is defatted and sugar-free cocoa, the lecithin will make sure that it does not separate from the mass or that it stays at the bottom while your recipes settle!
HSN, a clear example of innovation and development
The International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications states that, in 2019:
Nothing less than a 78% of the soy that was cultivated in the world was genetically modified!
This is quite shocking information, since genetic modification is a process used to improve the efficiency of the crops. Therefore, it allows us to use more aggressive toxic products without damaging the plants, in order to make them more resistant to plagues.
However, this has an enormous cost in terms of the biodiversity of the cultivated area. Supporting the use of transgenic products damages the sustainability of the environment.
In HSN we know our role within the food industry, and we do not want to use raw ingredients such as transgenic soy, even though it is obviously cheaper. We do not care about that. In fact, what we want is to support sustainability for everyone.
That is why we have selected a raw ingredients that comes from 100% natural and GMO-free soy beans. For us, quality comes first since we only want the best for our customers.
Most of soy lecithin granules that are available in the market are not GMO-free. Therefore, they come from transgenic soy, which means that its consumption only increases the damage of genetic engineering on the environment.
Choose quality, choose HSN
